The United States is continuing to reach out to its close partners, including India, to support peace efforts in Ukraine, according to a spokesperson from the US Department of State.
Responding to a question on the recent visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Moscow to meet with President Vladimir Putin and its impact on US-India relations, Principal Deputy Spokesperson, Vedant Patel, in a press briefing, on July 18, 2024, noted, “In the context of Ukraine and Russia’s ongoing aggression and its infringement on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, we continue to ask all our partners, including India, to support efforts to realize an enduring and just peace for Ukraine.”
He reiterated the United States’ demand for Russia to withdraw troops from Ukraine’s sovereign territory.
“India continues to be a country in which we partner with on a number of key areas,” Patel emphasized highlighting the strong relationship that was evident when the US hosted PM Modi for a State visit last June.
