UN General Assembly President Philemon Yang Visits India to Strengthen Ties, Explore Innovation

The President of the 79th UN General Assembly (PGA), Philemon Yang, is visiting India from February 4-7, 2025, highlighting the growing significance of India-UN relations. 

During his visit, PGA Yang will engage in high-level discussions, multilateral and regional issues of mutual interest, with Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and pay a courtesy call on President Droupadi Murmu, according to the Foreign Ministry.

Beyond diplomatic engagements in New Delhi, PGA Yang will visit Bengaluru to explore India’s advancements in sustainability and digital public infrastructure, with scheduled visits to Infosys and the Indian Institute of Science.

Yang, former Prime Minister of Cameroon, assumed office on September 10, 2024. His leadership saw the adoption of “A Pact for the Future,” a UN vision document aiming for “multilateral solutions for a better tomorrow.”
