IDF USA’s 2025 Gala Unites Change-Makers in Support of Education, Health, and Women Empowerment

The Indian Development Fund (IDF) USA, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing education, healthcare, and women’s empowerment since 2012, hosted its annual gala on March 22, 2025, at the Fairfield by Marriott in Schaumburg, Illinois. The event brought together supporters, advocates, and community leaders for an inspiring evening of celebration and impact.

Hosted by Anjali Mohanty, the gala aimed to motivate and engage attendees in IDF’s mission. Distinguished guests, including Consul General of India in Chicago, Somnath Ghosh, graced the occasion, sharing a powerful message of service and community impact.

The evening featured keynote addresses and presentations from IDF USA’s Founder & CEO, Cecil Joseph; IDF India Trustee, Aunali Rupani; Global PR Head, Sana Rupani; and Chief Scientist and Advisor for the Ignite STEM Passion Project Dr. Shailaja Donempudi,

“We were thrilled to host this event in Chicago, bringing together passionate individuals dedicated to creating meaningful change,” said Joseph. “This gathering was not just a celebration of our achievements but a call to action to further our collective impact.”

IDF USA honored outstanding contributors who have played a vital role in the organization’s journey. Donors received Certificates of Appreciation for their generous support, while young philanthropist Advik Mohanty was awarded the prestigious Kiddo Award, recognizing his commitment to social good and future leadership.

Dr. A.P. Jayaraman, an esteemed nuclear scientist from India and Hon. Trustee President of IDF India, extended his wishes to the IDF USA team through a special video message, applauding their dedication to supporting IDF India’s projects.

Dr. Jayaraman is the visionary behind Ignite STEM Passion, an initiative fostering interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) among educators and young minds. Working closely with Dr. Donempudi and the CSIR, the program continues to expand its reach, inspiring the next generation of innovators across India.

The event also recognized IDF USA’s core leadership team, whose tireless efforts drive the organization’s initiatives forward:

During the evening, Hon. Trustee Aunali Rupani emphasized IDF’s unwavering commitment to education through Project Aashayein, the organization’s flagship initiative. Over the past 11 years, the program has impacted more than 102,000 schoolchildren in remote villages across India, providing them with access to quality education. Rupani also commended the efforts of Project Leaders Shashank and Anish for their dedication to expanding this mission.
