After months of teasing audiences with glimpses of its enormous cast, Welcome To The Jungle has finally unveiled its trailer June 11 with a grand event at Yash Raj Studios, where a jungle was created! As full of life as one would expect from a film carrying the Welcome brand, the film has an impossible cast (record holders of the past in this, for their respective timeframes, were Nagin /1976, Jaani Dushmun /1979 and Housefull 5 last year).
The trailer wastes no time getting into the madness at full throttle. Given its film within a film setup (like the climax of the 2007 original), the trailer is replete with fun as it begins with the team searching for a once-famous actor, played by Akshay Kumar, whose career has seen a decline after a series of flops.
As they set out on their mission, the film gradually introduces its massive ensemble cast through catchy song sequences. The film’s army of actors and comedians set the tone for a comic caper that appears to thrive on sheer unpredictability. Rather than revealing too much about the story, the trailer focuses on moments and there are plenty of them to keep you hooked.
From Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty’s easy banter to bizarre situations involving the many characters, the trailer leans heavily into comedy. A scene featuring Raveena Tandon and Aftab Shivdasani, a string of visual gags and comic moments involving Kiku Sharda and others suggest that the film is more interested in generating laughs than explaining its plot.
The scale matches the energy. Helicopters, explosions, action sequences and jungle-set adventures are sprinkled throughout the trailer, though almost every action seems to end with a punchline. The approach feels closer to an old-school entertainer where comedy drives the story, even when the stakes become larger than life.
For fans of the franchise, the biggest draw may simply be seeing so many familiar faces share screen space together and mostly again. The trailer banks heavily on ensemble chemistry, quick-fire humor and nostalgia, while promising a bigger canvas than anything the series has attempted before.
Whether audiences come for the action, the adventure or the comedy, one thing is clear from the trailer: Welcome To The Jungle isn’t trying to be subtle. It is aiming for maximum chaos and it seems perfectly comfortable embracing it.
Directed by Ahmed Khan, the film brings together a formidable ensemble including Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Arshad Warsi, Jackie Shroff, Paresh Rawal, Lara Dutta, Farida Jalal, Johny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi, Aftab Shivdasani, Mukesh Tiwari, Yashpal Sharma, Kiran Kumar, Zakir Hussain, Vindu Dara Singh, Urvashi Rautela, Hemant Pandey, Brijendra Kala, late Pankaj Dheer, Puneet Issar, Sudesh Berry, Jeetu Verma, Vrihi Kodvara, Adityaa Singgh and Bhagya Bhanushali.
Welcome To The Jungle is presented by A.A. Nadiadwala, Cape of Good Films and Star Studio18 in association with Seeta Films and Rakesh Dang. The film is a Base Industries Group Production, produced by Rakesh Dang, Vedant Vikaas Baali and Firoz A. Nadiadwalla.
