Chief Executive Officer of Lockheed Martin, Jim Taiclet, met with Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, on July 18, 2024, in New Delhi, India, to discuss Lockheed Martin’s long-standing dedication to enhance the US-India defense partnership.

PM Modi praised Lockheed Martin’s dedication towards the “Make in India, Make for the World,” vision, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.

In his tweet, PM Modi referred to Lockheed Martin as a “key partner in India-US Aerospace and Defense Industrial cooperation.”

“As a trusted partner of over three decades, we recognize the promising talent and capabilities of the local industry and remain committed to strengthening the defense and industrial ties between our two nations,” tweeted Lockheed Martin.

In its website, Lockheed Martin noted that it has a long-standing relationship with the Government of India, providing products and technologies that enhance India’s national security, generate trade benefits and provide employment opportunities between the US and India.

Since establishing a subsidiary in New Delhi in 2008, Lockheed Martin has supported various Indian government initiatives such as, “Make in India, Startup India, and Skill India,” and are exploring further collaborations, including the “Digital India Initiative.”

“Resonating with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Start-up India” call, the IIGP has pioneered an initiative that has supported more than 400 innovators and start-ups with in-depth technology commercialization training and handholding support to commercialize and scale their ventures in India and across the world, particularly in the United States,” added the Lockheed Martin website. “To date, the revenue generated for the Indian entrepreneurs through this programme is approaching $1 billion, and it is a flagship innovation program in the Department of Science and Technology.”
