NEMF and My Home India Announce Winners of the 3rd Kalyan Barooah Awards 2025

The North East Media Forum (NEMF), in association with My Home India, has announced the winners of the 3rd Kalyan Barooah Awards 2025.

According to a statement from the organizers, the awards will be presented on December 11, 2025, at the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi, coinciding with the birth anniversary of late Kalyan Barooah. The awards recognize journalists who have demonstrated excellence in reporting on issues concerning India’s North Eastern region.

A five-member jury evaluated nominations across multiple categories. The panel consisted of former AIR Director General Moushumi Chakrabarty, senior journalists Achinta Bora (PTI), Sandeep Phukan (The Hindu), Sachin Gogoi (BBC), and IIMC Aizawl Regional Director Prof. Shashwati Goswami.

The recipients selected for this year’s awards include:

  • Lifetime Achievement Award: Monalisa Changkija of Nagaland Page for her long-standing and impactful contribution to journalism in North East India.
  • Print Category: Amal Goswami, Chief Staff Reporter at Dainik Janambhumi, Assam.
  • Electronic Media Award: Kshetrimayum Premchand, Chief Reporter of SKTV News, Imphal, Manipur.
  • Digital Media Category: Mridul Kumar Handique of Pratidin Digital, Assam.

The organizers noted that no entries were received for the Still Photography and Videography categories.

NEMF is a Delhi-based organization comprising journalists from the North Eastern states working in Delhi-NCR as well as journalists reporting on the region. My Home India is an NGO dedicated to fostering emotional integration between people across the country and communities from India’s North Eastern region.
