Ekta Rana Celebrates Diwali with “Diwali Ki Raat” — A Heartfelt Musical Tribute to the Festival of Lights

London-based vocalist and songwriter Ekta Rana releases her new original single, Diwali Ki Raat, a heartfelt celebration of the memories and traditions that make Diwali so special.

According to a statement, the song began as a poem Rana wrote and shared on Instagram in 2025. In September 2026, she felt inspired to set those words to music, capturing the simple pleasures of Diwali: Maa making homemade sweets, lighting traditional mitti (clay) diyas and spending precious time with family and loved ones.

Living in London while her mother is in India, Rana draws on her own experience of missing family celebrations to create a song that resonates with those celebrating away from home.

“I hope this song brings back beautiful memories and makes people feel a little closer to home, wherever they are in the world,” says Rana.

Written, composed and performed by Rana, Diwali Ki Raat was produced, mixed and mastered by Mumbai-based producer Parikshit Mishal and recorded at Ghazal Studio in North London, owned by Keval Joshi. The project also received support from Multi award winning Boutique Monalisa Sarees, which sponsored Ekta’s outfit, and The Bangle Boutique, whose handcrafted bangles added a traditional touch to her look.

An Award-Winning Artist Ekta blends Indian classical traditions with contemporary, cinematic sounds. Trained under Ustad Mehboob Nadeem and Sushma Zaveri, her voice has been described by the BBC as “like a songbird.”

In 2026, she received the SHE Award for Arts & Culture. Her achievements also include selection for the Asian Arts Agency’s Emerge 2 national commission in 2025 and joining the Milap Sabrang ensemble in 2026.

Her debut album, Colours of Love (2025) produced by Kuljit Bhamra MBE and her 2026 single Jhoom, produced by Rishi Rich, showcase her distinctive blend of Indian musical heritage and contemporary influences.

Released one week before Diwali on 8 November 2026, Diwali Ki Raat is a personal yet universal celebration of family, cultural heritage and the feeling of home.
