On behalf of the United States, Secretary of State Marco Rubio extended warm congratulations to the people of India on the occasion of their 79th Independence Day, celebrated on August 15.
In an official statement issued on August 14, Secretary Rubio remarked, “The historic relationship between the world’s largest democracy and the world’s oldest democracy is consequential and far-reaching,” adding, “Our two countries are united by our shared vision for a more peaceful, prosperous, and secure Indo-Pacific region. Our partnership spans industries, promotes innovation, pushes the boundaries of critical and emerging technologies, and extends into space.”
He emphasized that through continued collaboration, the United States and India will address contemporary global challenges and work toward a brighter future for both nations.
Secretary Rubio Extends Greetings to Pakistan
Secretary Rubio also conveyed greetings to the people of Pakistan on their Independence Day, observed on August 14.
“The United States deeply appreciates Pakistan’s engagement on counterterrorism and trade,” he stated. “We look forward to exploring new areas of economic cooperation, including critical minerals and hydrocarbons, and fostering dynamic business partnerships which will promote a prosperous future for Americans and Pakistanis.”
