US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken has extended his congratulations to the people of India on the occasion of India’s 78th Independence Day, celebrated on August 15, 2024.
In a statement, Secretary Blinken said, “On this momentous day, we celebrate the rich and diverse history of the Indian people and the bright future of US-Indian relations,” adding “Our comprehensive global and strategic partnership is grounded in the deep bonds between our peoples, our economies, and built on the foundation of our shared commitment to democracy, freedom, and human dignity.”
He emphasized that the cooperation between both countries has been expanding at a “rapid pace,” citing their ongoing work to make headway for a “shared vision of a free, open, stable, and prosperous Indo-Pacific.”
“From climate and clean energy to defense and space technologies, US-Indian bilateral cooperation is more wide-ranging and stronger than ever before,” he noted wishing those celebrating those celebrating the occasion in the United States and around the world “a joyous Independence Day.”
Secretary Blinken also conveyed his wishes to the people of Pakistan as they celebrated Independence Day on August 14th.
“For 77 years, the ties between our people have served as the foundation of our relationship. In the year ahead, we will deepen the US-Pakistan partnership and expand our people-to-people ties to build a more prosperous future for both our nations,” added Secretary Blinken. “We look forward to continuing a partnership that makes both countries more secure, as we strengthen our shared commitment to democratic principles and respect for the rule of law.”
