The Overseas Friends of BJP-USA has condemned a protest staged by members of the Indian Youth Congress at the Bharat Mandapam venue, where the India AI Impact Summit 2026 is underway in New Delhi. The organization described the demonstration as a “heinous and despicable act” and alleged that it was intended to bring “disrepute” to India.

On February 20, a group of Youth Congress workers staged what they described as a “shirtless protest” inside an exhibition hall at the Summit. The demonstrators walked through the venue holding T-shirts bearing slogans critical of the government and the India-US trade deal. Security personnel subsequently intervened and escorted the protesters out of the premises.

In a statement, OFBJP-USA President Adapa Prasad and Secretary Vasudev Patel criticized the protest and questioned the role of the Congress party and its leader, Rahul Gandhi. “How much can Congress party and its leader Rahul Gandhi stoop low in belittling India’s achievements?” they said.

The statement further alleged that the party’s “antics” were aimed at “destabilizing and defaming” India over several years. It also claimed that Gandhi and his party appeared to be acting on cues from “anti-India” external entities.

Issuing a warning, the organization said, “Beware India, about the Congress Party agenda of dividing India on ‘caste and religious lines,’” and added, “After all, Rahul Gandhi earlier said in India’s Parliament and also at Cambridge University in 2022 that ‘India is Not a Nation but a Union of States.’”
