For Montreal-based businessman Baljit Singh Chadha and his wife, Mandeep Kaur (Roshi) Chadha, partnering with renowned photojournalist Raghu Rai and his wife, architect Gurmeet Kaur Sangha Rai, on a seminal illustrated book on Sikhism was a dream realized.

“Gurmeet has been the driving force behind this project,” Baljit Chadha said, praising her dedication as both a conservationist and professional. Raghu Rai, widely regarded as one of India’s top photojournalists, brought his exceptional vision to the work, while Gurmeet Kaur Sangha Rai skillfully balanced her contributions to the book with high-profile UNESCO projects, including initiatives along the GT Road and the Sri Harimandir Sahib conservation efforts.

The Chadhas’ dedication culminated this week as they traveled from Montreal to New Delhi to present the first copies of their book to Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri.

Titled Sri Harimandir Sahib: A Comprehensive Study of Heritage, Significance, and Conservation, the book offers an in-depth exploration of one of Sikhism’s most revered sites, combining meticulous research with striking visual documentation.

Baljit Chadha, one of the pioneering Indian-origin businessmen in Canada, has also been actively engaged in cultural and political circles, having hosted an introductory event for Mark Carney during his leadership election in the Liberal Party following Justin Trudeau’s announcement to step down.
