On March 14, 2025, the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, New Jersey chapter, (AAPI-NJ) hosted a Holi celebration at the Spice Rack restaurant in Franklin Park, NJ, blending cultural festivities with what physicians consider a crucial awareness-raising session on atrial fibrillation and stroke prevention.
The event featured a presentation by Dr. Sanjukta Sanyal from Medicor Cardiology highlighting the importance of early detection and the role of the ‘Watchman’ procedure in preventing strokes.

NJ State AAPI has been committed to education and community engagement throughout the year, regularly organizing impactful programs on key healthcare topics, a press release from the organization said. “These initiatives aim to empower physicians and the community with the latest medical advancements, preventive care strategies, and professional growth opportunities,” it added.
Among those present were AAPI-NJ President Dr. Sudha Nahar, Chair of the Board of Trustees Dr. Rachana Kulkarni, and members of the Executive Committee and Board of Trustees, who presented a $10,000 contribution to the South Asian Community Health Initiatives, SACHI program.
Also present were AAPI leaders like Padma Shri recipient Dr Sudhir Parikh, Dr Sudha Parikh and approximately 100 physicians and their families. Attendees dressed in colorful attire, enjoyed Holi games, dancing, Indian cuisine, desserts, and drinks, creating a joyous and memorable experience.

Organizers said the success of NJ State AAPI was a testament to the strong leadership and dedication of its executive team, which fosters collaboration, education, and advocacy for physicians of Indian origin.
“Events like this not only strengthen professional ties but also celebrate the rich cultural heritage and contributions of the AAPI community,” organizers said. AAPI-NJ urged more physicians to join the organization and further its goals
