The India Philanthropy Alliance (IPA), a U.S.-based network of nonprofit, philanthropic, and charitable organizations focused on India, will host the fourth annual India Giving Day on March 13. The campaign brings together 51 vetted organizations working across sectors including education, health care, livelihood development, environmental sustainability, animal welfare, and empowerment initiatives for women, children, and older adults.

“India Giving Day is about collective action,” said Sejal Desai, India Giving Day Steering Committee Chair and Director of Akanksha Education Fund, in a statement. “This year we are bringing together 51 organizations working in multiple sectors and helping donors identify which causes are most important to them, and which organizations are best aligned with their personal values.”

According to organizers, India Giving Day has emerged as a trusted platform for thousands of donors who want to support India-focused nonprofit initiatives with confidence, knowing that participating organizations have been vetted through a credible process.

“It feels especially good to our supporters to know they are a part of something bigger. India Giving Day is a chance to be part of a very large and generous movement,” the statement noted.

For the first time since its inception, the campaign will include a virtual event titled INDIA GIVING DAY LIVE!, designed to bring together nonprofit leaders, supporters, and members of the public through an interactive online format.

The event will feature prominent guests including tennis legend Vijay Amritraj, MR Rangaswami, Isheeta Ganguly, Deepak Raj, and Simi Shah, among others. The three-hour program will be streamed on Friday, March 13, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Time on the India Giving Day website. Viewers can also participate through the India Philanthropy Alliance’s YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn channels for an interactive experience. Guests may join at any time during the event or stay for the full program, and no registration is required.

“In times of uncertainty, movements like India Giving Day bring hope for the future and remind us that collective action can create real change,” said Meenakshi Mahajan, Director of India Giving Day and Deputy Director of the India Philanthropy Alliance. “We don’t look at this as a mere fundraising initiative, we see it as fulfilling a need in the community—to connect and join forces in support of social development initiatives in India and create an even bigger impact for those who benefit from the humanitarian work supported through India Giving Day.”

According to IPA, the addition of INDIA GIVING DAY LIVE! provides members of the Indian American diaspora and others with an affinity for India a more direct way to engage with the initiative through stories, insights from participating nonprofit organizations, community leaders, and youth voices.

India Giving Day is led by a steering committee composed of IPA board members, staff, and campaign sponsors. The initiative is also supported by national co-chairs, celebrity ambassadors, and a Youth Leadership Council, along with numerous sponsors, supporters, and benefactors who contribute to making the campaign possible.
