Practicing physician and Democratic candidate for Congress Dr. Tina Shah announced that her campaign surpassed the $1 million fundraising mark by the end of 2025, raising $1,017,000 and becoming the fastest Democratic candidate in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District to reach the milestone.

According to her campaign, the achievement highlights Shah’s growing momentum in what is expected to be one of the nation’s most competitive congressional races in 2026. The campaign stated that she begins the new election cycle with nearly $650,000 cash on hand.

“I am so proud of the support our campaign has earned,” said Dr. Shah. “We need a representative who will lower costs for working families, protect reproductive rights, and ensure everyone has access to high-quality healthcare. New Jerseyans are demanding leaders who will put patients over industry profits. Our campaign is fighting to serve hardworking families, not Donald Trump’s billionaire buddies or special interests, and that’s why I will flip NJ-07 in November.”

Political race analysts have identified the district as highly competitive. Both the Center for Politics and the Cook Political Report have rated New Jersey’s 7th District as a top congressional toss-up. In addition, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has placed Republican incumbent Tom Kean Jr. on its 2026 “Districts in Play” list, according to Shah’s campaign.
