Two distinct musical worlds come together on Mahiya, a collaboration between Shreya Ghoshal and Badshah. A romantic pop-dance number, the track brings Ghoshal’s melodic sensibility into Badshah’s contemporary pop landscape, pairing expressive vocals with an upbeat production.

Composed and written by Badshah and produced by Hiten, Mahiya finds its footing between the intimacy of a romantic melody and the infectious energy of a dance track. The music video brings the song’s romantic narrative to life, featuring Shreya Ghoshal alongside Badshah and actor Avneet Kaur. With the three of them sharing screen space, the video complements the track’s playful romantic mood while offering audiences a chance to see Ghoshal in a different on-screen setting.

Speaking about the collaboration, Ghoshal says, “Mahiya was an exciting opportunity for me to explore a sound and space that is a little different from what audiences usually associate me with. For the longest time, people have known me through my playback singing, where I get to bring a character’s emotions to life through music. With non-film tracks, I get to express myself differently as an artiste, experiment with sounds and explore collaborations that take me beyond my usual musical space. Badshah has a very distinct musical sensibility, and I really enjoyed bringing our individual styles together for this track. The blend of romance and pop-dance made it particularly exciting, and being part of the music video made the experience even more special. I believe it’s important to keep discovering new sides of yourself as an artiste, and Mahiya was a lovely opportunity to do that.”

The song marks another step in Ghoshal’s growing journey in non-film music, as she continues to explore creative spaces beyond her established identity as a playback singer. Having collaborated with artistes from different musical backgrounds, including AP Dhillon, ARJN, KDS, FIFTY4 and Ronn and now Badshah, she is bringing her distinctive melodic sensibility into contemporary sounds and new musical territories. These collaborations reflect an evolving artistic journey, one that allows her to experiment with genres and connect with audiences beyond the world of film music.

Mahiya finds its own space between romance and dance. The song is available across Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube and other platforms.

Ghoshal, the doubtless market leader in playback, has now entered the 25th year of her triumph-studded career that began with Devdas in 2002. She has officially joined the Recording Academy as an official voting member for the Grammy Awards in October 2026, alongside a career decorated with major national and international honors.
