Kahani Kala Khushi, an initiative by Reliance Foundation, was launched on the Children’s Day, November 14, 2024, in Mumbai, India. Designed to “inspire children across schools and Anganwadi centers,” the program will engage in storytelling and various captivating activities in the coming weeks.
In a statement on November 15th, Reliance Foundation highlighted that employee volunteers from across Reliance businesses, along with partner organizations and community representatives, will connect with children from “disadvantaged backgrounds,” as part of this initiative. The program aims to impact around 22,000 children nationwide.
Launched at a government school in Mumbai, the initiative saw over 400 Reliance employees engaged with 3,800 children through storytelling, art, and indoor and outdoor games.
“Over the next few days, hundreds of such volunteers will engage with children across the country,” added the statement noting that the initiative initially began in 63 Anganwadis across Maharashtra and Telangana, engaging preschool-aged children. Over the next few days, hundreds of volunteers will extend the program to over 1,100 Anganwadis, reaching an additional 18,000 children.
“Kahani Kala Khushi initiative aims to build communication skills and confidence in children along with their cognitive functioning, driven by Reliance Foundation’s commitment to children and youth as a core area of our work the aim is to build aspirations of young people to shape a strong and prosperous nation,” added the statement. “Reliance Foundation is committed to spreading joy among children from disadvantaged communities around this time of the year for over a decade now.”
This year’s initiative focuses on blending storytelling and art to inspire and engage children. Last year’s campaign reached over 17,000 children in 25 cities, according to the statement.
Reliance Foundation, the Reliance Industries Limited’s philanthropic arm, is committed to addressing “India’s development challenges,” by creating “innovative and sustainable solutions.”
