Pushpa 2: The Rule Moved Back to Dec. 5: No Clash With Baby John

In a surprise yet welcome move, the makers have moved the release of Pushpa 2: The Rule to December 5 from December 25, when it was set to clash with another South-made action extravaganza, Baby John. Trade analysts, viewers and even the makers of Baby John have heaved a sigh of relief at the avoiding of a clash between an eagerly anticipated sequel and a film presented by Atlee, who directed 2023’s biggest hit, Jawan.

The film is now scheduled to release, apart from the original Telugu language, in dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali and Malayalam. The film was originally announced to release on August 15. However, it was pushed forward to  December 6 due to unfinished shooting and post-production. It now releases a day earlier, for unknown reasons on a Thursday, but in 12,000 screens worldwide. The film has no theatrical co-release, and now there is a clear three-week window until the next biggie, Baby John.

Sequel to the late 2021 pan-Indian hit, Pushpa: The Rise Part 1, it is the first pan-Indian film to release in Bengali. Directed by Sukumar for Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings, the film stars Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil. Devi Sri Prasad, now known as Rockstar DSP, who clinched the National award for 2021 for the earlier film, scores the songs while S. Thaman and Sam C.S. compose the background score.
