Prime Video has announced the exclusive global streaming premiere of Madharaasi. Written and directed by A.R. Murugadoss, the psychological action thriller features Sivakarthikeyan, Rukmini Vasanth, Vidyut Jammwal, Biju Menon, Vikranth, and Shabeer Kallarakkal in key roles. The music by Anirudh Ravichander includes the chartbuster track Salambala.

Starting October 1, Madharaasi will be available to stream exclusively on Prime Video in India and across more than 200 countries and territories worldwide in Tamil, along with dubbed versions in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. 

Set against the backdrop of Tamil Nadu, Madharaasi follows Raghu (Sivakarthikeyan), a car showroom employee secretly battling a rare psychological disorder that makes him believe strangers are his lost relatives. When NIA officer, Premnath (Biju Menon) recruits Raghu to infiltrate a cylinder gas factory doubling as a weapons storage hub for an arms syndicate, a deadly covert mission unfolds. Raghu’s fragile mental state, his haunting past, and his tender bond with Malathi (Rukmini Vasanth), a dental student and singer, shape a story that blurs the line between delusion and destiny. 

With Virat (Vidyut Jammwal) and Chirag (Vikranth) leading the ruthless syndicate, Madharaasi promises an edge-of-the-seat experience, packed with emotional depth and heart-pounding action.

A.R. Murugadoss is, for Hindi Cinema, the man whose film, Ghajini, launched the 100-Crore Club in 2008, now an entity with about 140 members, including pan-Indian South films. His second Hindi film, Holiday(2006), was also a member of this club. After this, he directed Naam Hai Akira as well as this year’s Sikandar, which did not do well.

The much-awarded filmmaker-writer-actor has been synonymous with several Tamil blockbusters, including Dheena, Thupakki, Kaththi and Darbar. In my only meeting with him many years ago, he stressed that he would always take up key issues in his films.
