An all-party delegation from India, led by Member of Parliament Dr. Shashi Tharoor, arrived in New York as part of a diplomatic initiative aimed at presenting a united national front against “terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.” The visit reflects India’s broader engagement with key international partners, including the United States, to strengthen global cooperation in combating terrorism.
Other members of the delegation include Bhubaneswar Kalita Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Milind Murli Deora Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Shashank Mani Tripathi Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Ganti Harish Madhur Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and former Indian Ambassador to the United States, Taranjit Singh Sandhu.

“As a mark of solemn remembrance and solidarity, the delegation visited the National September 11 Memorial & Museum and paid tribute to the innocent lives lost in the tragic 9/11 attacks,” noted an official statement from the Embassy of India. “The delegation honored the memory of the victims and reaffirmed India’s unwavering commitment to the global fight against terrorism and its support for all victims of such inhuman acts.”
While in New York, the delegation engaged with leading think tanks, academic institutions, and members of the media. These interactions emphasized the strategic relationship between India and the United States and highlighted collaborative efforts to confront the evolving threat of terrorism.

The delegation communicated India’s unequivocal message of zero tolerance and unified national determination in the face of terrorism.
According to the statement, the visit forms part of India’s sustained diplomatic outreach to engage global stakeholders and build consensus on the urgent need for more robust international mechanisms to counter terrorism, dismantle support networks, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
