Dinesh Kumar Patnaik of India was among six new heads of foreign missions who formally presented their letters of credence in Canada, marking the official start of their diplomatic assignments.
With Patnaik assuming office as High Commissioner, India’s full-fledged diplomatic presence in Canada has been restored.

The credential ceremony was held at Rideau Hall, where the Governor General of Canada, Mary Simon, received the newly appointed diplomats and extended an official welcome.
The six envoys included Karl Anthony Amadeus Dhaene, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium; Anthony Dessources, Ambassador of the Republic of Haiti; Hanne Ulrichsen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway; Andrii Plakhotniuk, Ambassador of Ukraine; Dinesh Kumar Patnaik, High Commissioner of the Republic of India; and Stefan Tomašević, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia.
With the presentation of their letters of credence, the new heads of mission have formally commenced their diplomatic duties in Canada.
