The Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies (FIIDS), a US based non-profit focused on policy research and awareness, announced the launch of a comprehensive survey on policy issues and the #IndoAmericanVotesMatter campaign on September 2, 2024.
A statement from FIIDS noted that the initiative aims to boost the influence and participation of Indian American voters in the 2024 US elections, highlighting the community’s significant role in shaping the country’s future.
“As a vibrant and growing immigrant minority, Indo-Americans—numbering approximately 4.5 million across the United States—have a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in the 2024 elections,” added the statement. “Concentrated in key swing states such as Florida, Georgia, Arizona, Virginia, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, the Indo-American vote could be decisive in determining the outcome of crucial races.”
Chief of Policy and Strategy of FIIDS, Khanderao Kand, noted, “With a sizable population in swing states crucial to the presidential elections, Indian Americans have a unique opportunity to make an impact.”
Khand emphasized that their policy concerns and preferences should be given serious consideration by both the Republican National Committee and the Democratic National Committee. Through the voter registration campaign, he said that the goal of FIIDS is to have over a million Indian American voters participate in this election.
FIIDS encourages individuals and organizations to support the survey and voter registration efforts by promoting them on social media and sharing the survey and registration links, http://tiny.cc/fiids-survey and http://tiny.cc/voters-registration.
