Presented by Panorama Studios, Switch Off marks the directorial debut of Sandeep Francis, an editor whose credits include Raid 2, Drishyam 2, Shaitaan and Drishyam: The Conclusion.
Switch Off also had its US Premiere at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, one of the world’s most prominent festivals celebrating horror, fantasy, science fiction, action and genre cinema. The film has also been selected for L’Étrange Festival in Paris for its European Premiere and the Buffalo International Film Festival in New York, further strengthening its growing international presence.
Its selection at Curtas Festival do Imaginário marks another milestone in its journey across the global festival circuit. The 11-minute genre short has been making its mark on the international festival circuit. It premiered at South Korea’s Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN), where it won the Jury’s Choice Award for Best Short Film in the Bucheon Choice: World Shorts competition. It subsequently had its Asia Premiere at the Bengaluru International Short Film Festival and Oceanic Premiere at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.
Starring Arunjith, Hrishikesh PS and Sreeram, the short is about a seemingly dead phone that comes back to life. It begins documenting a man’s reality and his future. As the images turn fatal, he finds himself trapped in a moment he can’t escape.
