The Consulate General of India in Seattle, in collaboration with the Museum of Pop Culture (MOPOP), hosted the inaugural Festival of Indian Cinema in Seattle on March 21, 2025.
The event featured a short documentary on the recently concluded Mahakumbh at Prayagraj, along with excerpts from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s podcast with Lex Fridman, highlighting India’s core philosophy of Unity in Diversity.

Prominent attendees included U.S. Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, King County Council Vice Chair Sarah Perry, Port of Seattle Commissioner Sam Cho, and MOPOP CEO Michele Y. Smith, along with leading figures from Seattle’s film and media industry.

As part of the festival, screenings of three acclaimed Indian films are being screened: English Vinglish on March 21, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara on March 22, and Raksha Bandhan on March 23.
In a special tribute to Indian cinema, March 21–23 was officially declared Indian Cinema Festival Days across all 39 cities of King County, including the Greater Seattle area.

The festival also featured a curated photo exhibition, “The History of Indian Cinema,” showcasing the evolution of Indian films and iconic titles. The exhibit will remain on display at MOPOP Seattle until March 23.
