The BAFTA-nominated and Oscar-shortlisted thriller, SANTOSH, now playing in New York and Los Angeles, is set to release in additional cities on January 31, 2025.
Set in rural Northern India, the film follows a recently widowed woman who steps into her late husband’s role as a police constable, only to find herself entangled in a world of moral dilemmas while investigating the murder of a low-caste girl.
Forced from a life of domesticity, Santosh seizes the opportunity to support herself by taking on her husband’s job in law enforcement. Under the mentorship of Sharma, a commanding and charismatic senior female inspector, she embarks on a murder investigation that exposes her to the brutal realities of crime and corruption. As she navigates a deeply flawed system, Santosh must reckon with both external injustices and her own place within them.
Written and directed by Sandhya Suri, Santosh stars Shahana Goswami and Sunita Rajwar.
