The inordinate delay (a normal happening for a Salman Khan event!) apart, the trailer launch of his latest vehicle (and home production), Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace (love that tagline!) had a big reveal and a few key smaller ones.
The Big Reveal
Attended by Salman Khan (the film is produced officially, like most of his post-Bajrangi Bhaijaan home productions, by his mother, Salma Khan), the launch finally saw the film’s release date being announced: December 4.
For the last several months, the release date has been a matter of great speculation. And the selected date comes, surprisingly, only a week after Sooraj R. Barjatya’s Yeh Prem Mol Liya. I use the word “surprisingly” because Salman owes his stardom to Barjatya (Maine Pyar Kiya). However, Khan himself gets the luxury of a three-week window before friend Shah Rukh Khan’s King opens on December 24.

The Reveals on Alleged Tussles with Censors and Government
At the event, Khan dismissed reports that the government pressured the makers to change or modify the script. “This whole narrative, that we are taking a stance against China, or whatever else is being said, it’s all nonsense!” he stated. “We have made a film about soldiers, about what they and their families go through, on both sides. There are no negative forces.”
The filmmakers had earlier denied facing censor issues, stating that the film has not yet gone to the censors.
Earlier titled Battle of Galwan, it is based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, it stars Chitrangda Singh.
While Khan plays Colonel B. Santosh Babu of the 16th Bihar Regiment, Anoop Bikram Shahi essays the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Major. Mukesh Rishi, Ankur Bhatia, Zeyn Shaw and Javed Khan are among the supporting cast.
The ‘Sexy’ Reveal
Salman Khan ‘returns’ to the song-recording studio after years and has rendered Teri sexy beauty. With Muskaan and its lyricist-composer Sajid Khan (of Sajid-Wajid) as co-singers, the catchy retro melody has registered record views in just three days.
The song is remarkably ‘bold’ by Salman Khan standards, who has avoided such lyrics and actions in his songs.
And while the film is tagged as a Himesh Reshammiya musical, it also features songs composed by Kumar Gaurav Singh, Ayaan Lall and Shamir Tandon.
