On May 22, 2025, Maryland Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller addressed the Transforming Infrastructure Performance (TIP) Summit in New York City, highlighting the state’s data- and technology-driven response to the Key Bridge tragedy and how it accelerated recovery efforts.
During the event, Lt. Governor Miller participated in a special live episode of The Infrastructure Podcast, hosted by Antony Oliver, according to a statement from the Lt. Governor’s office.

Drawing on her professional background as a transportation engineer, Lt. Governor Miller discussed how her combined experience in infrastructure and policymaking informs her approach to both the technical and human dimensions of such crises. She emphasized the importance of community-centered recovery and the lasting impact of coordinated action, according to a statement from her office.
Lt. Governor Miller underscored the collaborative efforts among federal, state, and local governments that helped expedite both the recovery process and the rebuilding of this critical transportation link. She also shared how Maryland supported the families of victims and port workers directly affected by the collapse.
“Great infrastructure isn’t just built with concrete—it’s built with purpose,” said Lt. Governor Miller. “It’s how we connect, protect, and empower communities to thrive. That’s been our focus in Maryland—especially through our Key Bridge recovery efforts.”
The statement noted that the TIP Summit series is a global forum that brings together policymakers, engineers, and infrastructure experts. It is led by Bentley Systems, Incorporated’s Infrastructure Policy Advancement group and aims to foster innovation, collaboration, and performance in infrastructure on a global scale. The TIP NYC Summit was hosted in partnership with the British Consulate General New York, IBM, Sidewalk Infrastructure Partners, the Women in Infrastructure Network, and United for Infrastructure.
“The TIP NYC Summit convened public and private sector leaders to explore strategies for advancing data-driven, high impact infrastructure solutions that benefit people, places, and the planet. Centered on infrastructure finance, transit innovation, and the policy frameworks needed to drive transformative change, the Summit served as a platform to translate global best practices into actionable insights for U.S. infrastructure,” said Bentley Systems Vice President of Infrastructure Policy Advancement, Mark Coates.
Underscoring his company’s collaboration with Lieutenant Governor Miller and the state of Maryland, Coates praised Miller’s “visionary leadership” helps drive “equitable, community-focused progress in the built environment.”
