The US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) has announced the appointment of senior journalist Maha Siddiqui as its first Director of Policy and Strategy in Canada, marking an expansion of the organization’s presence in North America.

“As part of our expansion in North America, USISPF welcomes Maha Siddiqui, our first employee in Canada. Maha is a senior journalist who now joins USISPF as the first Director, Policy and Strategy, Canada,” the organization said in a statement.

Siddiqui brings more than two decades of experience in broadcast journalism, having covered India’s foreign policy during her tenure at NDTV and CNN-News18.

USISPF said its expansion into Canada aligns with its broader strategic objectives. Over the years, the organization has positioned itself as a global platform supporting investment and partnership between the United States and India. “Our expansion into Canada is well-timed to tap into the opportunities that the G7 nation has to offer,” the statement noted.

Describing Siddiqui as a “well-respected” journalist and senior foreign affairs editor, USISPF noted that her reporting career has spanned national politics, Parliament coverage, global summits, and conflict zones. At NDTV 24×7, she launched the international news program India Global, and at CNN-News18, she anchored prime-time programs including World 360.

“She has reported on the humanitarian crisis emerging from the war in Ukraine and covered major geopolitical moments including the Trump-Putin summit in Alaska, the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Quad summit in Washington, the G20 summit in Bali, the SCO Summit in Samarkand and India’s relationships with China and Pakistan,” the statement added.

In addition to her journalism career, Siddiqui has worked as a consultant for the Global Green Growth Institute during her time at the University of British Columbia. In that role, according to USISPF, she led a multi-phase project on clean heating in Mongolia, collaborating with local and international stakeholders to identify sustainable energy pathways for the country.

USISPF also highlighted her policy experience in Canada. “She has contributed to nuclear energy policy research on Small Modular Reactors and delivered action-oriented reports on immigration during her time with the Canadian provincial government of British Columbia’s Immigration Policy and Integration Branch,” the organization said.
