U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio Congratulates Sri Lanka on Independence Day

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has extended his congratulations to the people of Sri Lanka on their Independence Day.

In a statement on February 3rd, Secretary Rubio remarked, “On behalf of the United States of America, I congratulate the people of Sri Lanka as they celebrate their nation’s independence on February 4.”

In the statement, he highlighted the strong and mutually beneficial partnership that has developed between the United States and Sri Lanka over the past 77 years, emphasizing the deep-rooted people-to-people connections and shared commitment to democratic values.

“In the year ahead, we look forward to increasing trade and investment between our countries and strengthening our security cooperation to advance stability and prosperity throughout the Indo-Pacific region,” he added.
