U.S. President Donald Trump on April 2 replaced Attorney General Pam Bondi with Todd Blanche, who has been serving as Deputy Attorney General.
In a Truth Social post, President Trump described Bondi as a “Great American Patriot and a loyal friend,” noting that she had faithfully served as Attorney General over the past year.
“Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900,” he added. “We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future, and our Deputy Attorney General, and a very talented and respected Legal Mind, Todd Blanche, will step in to serve as Acting Attorney General.”
In her statement, Bondi said she will work over the next month to ensure a smooth transition of the Attorney General’s office to the “amazing” Todd Blanche before moving to a new role in the private sector. She added that she is “thrilled” about the opportunity, where she will continue supporting President Trump and his administration.
Bondi described leading President Trump’s “historic” and “highly successful” efforts to make America safer and more secure as the “honor” of a lifetime, and called her tenure the most “consequential” first year of the Department of Justice in American history.
She noted that since February 2025, the Department of Justice has recorded the lowest murder rate in 125 years, secured terrorism convictions against members of Antifa, dismantled domestic and transnational gangs, taken custody of more than 90 key cartel figures, and won 24 favorable rulings at the Supreme Court.
“I remain eternally grateful for the trust that President Trump placed in me to Make America Safe Again,” she added.
