Over the decades, many a Hindi star, notably Sunil Dutt, Jeetendra, Anil Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty and now Salman Khan have had a tendency to gravitate towards South-made Hindi films, Southern directors and even Southern heroines.

A major collaboration is taking shape again as Salman Khan teams up with director Vamshi Paidipally (in his Hindi debut) for the first time in a film produced by noted South producer Dil Raju. The yet-untitled project has already generated significant buzz, especially after the recent announcement of Nayanthara as the female lead. The film marks her first collaboration with Salman Khan and her second Hindi outing after Jawan with Shah Rukh Khan.

The casting momentum continues, with Aravind Swamy likely to join the ensemble in a key role. While initial speculation hinted at him taking on an antagonist’s part, reports clarify that his character will instead be positive.

Interestingly, the makers are still on the lookout for a strong antagonist to face Khan on screen, indicating that a major casting announcement could be on the horizon. Additionally, there are ongoing discussions with Anil Kapoor for an important role, although details regarding his character remain tightly under wraps.

Bollywood Hungama reports that Khan has requested the filmmakers to make things ready for a Eid 2027 release, which means in early March. The website’s source has added that the film is an action-packed entertainer with a strong emotional core. Khan plays to the gallery in a way the audiences like to see him. The film is expected to go on floors in April and will be shot extensively across multiple locations in India. With substantial VFX work also involved, the team is currently focusing on locking all aspects before making an official announcement.

South filmmakers who have done films with Khan include Siddique, A.R. Murugadoss and Prabhudheva in recent times and Revathi, K.S. Adhiyaman, Ahathian, K. Murali Mohan Rao and Suresh Krishna.

Other cast and credits will be announced soon. Meanwhile, Salman’s Matrubhoomi, originally titled Battle of Galwan, will release later this year. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film has music by Himesh Reshammiya.
