To celebrate the contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) business owners and community leaders in Maryland, Comptroller Brooke Lierman will host the inaugural AAPI Heritage Awards on May 28, 2025, in Annapolis.

The event, titled “Honoring Legacy, Inspiring Tomorrow,” will be held during AAPI Heritage Month and aims to recognize individuals who have made a lasting positive impact in their communities. According to a statement from the Comptroller’s office, honorees will be selected for their sustained efforts toward community service and mentorship, responsible leadership, and their ability to inspire collective progress.

“We want to recognize the significant contributions of members of the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities because our cultural diversity strengthens our state and makes our economy more resilient,” Comptroller Lierman said. “I encourage Marylanders to celebrate their neighbors by nominating them for an award so we can share their stories and accomplishments and applaud the innovation, advocacy, persistence, and willingness to serve our communities.”

The Comptroller’s office is inviting Marylanders to nominate businesses and individuals who have provided meaningful service to the AAPI community, demonstrating leadership and a commitment to positive change.

The AAPI Heritage Awards will feature the Community Champion Awards, which include three categories: Small Business, Emerging Business, and Business Leader. These awards aim to honor Maryland-based business leaders who have significantly impacted the AAPI community and collaborated with diverse partners to promote community service and stewardship.

In addition, a Public Service Award will be presented to an individual or organization that has championed long-term advancement and advocacy within the AAPI community.

Nominations and event registration are now open and will be accepted through May 4th at 11:59 p.m. Interested individuals can submit nominations by completing the form available at marylandcomptroller.gov.
