Owing to the “critical,” nature of the Loudoun County Special Election scheduled for January 7, 2025, Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger joined Democratic candidates Kannan Srinivasan and JJ Singh on January 5th for the Get Out The Vote (GOTV) campaign event in a final push to support their bids.

“We are out knocking doors in Loudoun County because we have a special election on Tuesday. So, I’m out here with these awesome candidates,” said Congresswoman Spanberger, who is running for Governor of Virginia in 2025. She urged constituents to vote on January 7th.

Spanberger discussed the high stakes of Tuesday’s election, emphasizing the importance of electing both Srinivasan and Singh. She shared that she has known Srinivasan for many years and is deeply impressed by his legislative achievements, including the passage of several bills in the previous General Assembly session.

Highlighting Srinivasan’s ability to foster bipartisan collaboration and build consensus, she remarked, “He would make an excellent Senator.”

Singh, the Democratic candidate for the VA House of Delegates District 26, described the election as “critical,” highlighting his personal connection to the issues at stake. “I have two daughters, and I care about their future right now. My two daughters have fewer rights than my wife did,” he stated.

“Gun violence is the number one cause of death for kids, and college tuition costs are skyrocketing. With your help, on January 7, on Tuesday, we can go to Richmond and solve some of these problems,” added Singh. “The stakes are too high to sit on the sidelines — get out there and make your voice heard.”

Srinivasan, the Democratic candidate for VA State Senate District 32, echoed Singh’s sentiments, calling it a “crucial election.” He urged voters to turn out on January 7th, emphasizing the stakes surrounding key issues like women’s rights, public education, and gun safety. He noted that voting will take place from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. at regular polling locations.

The campaign has been robust, with Srinivasan reporting over 10,000 doors knocked, and 16,800 phone contacts made during the GOTV event this weekend. He also said that 4,254 votes were cast during early voting.

The campaign rally also featured prominent Democrats such as Virginia State Senator and Lieutenant Governor candidate Ghazala Hashmi, State Senator Jennifer Carroll Foy, and Loudoun County District Supervisor Laura A. TeKrony.

A day earlier, on January 4th, Congressman Suhas Subramanyam and DNC Vice Chair Ken Martin kicked off a canvass launch in Ashburn, energizing volunteers and voters ahead of the election.
