An All-Party Parliamentary Delegation from India, led by India’s Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor, has arrived in Washington D.C. on June 3, 2025. The delegation, which will be in the US Capital until June 5, aims to engage with members of the U.S. Congress, leading think tanks, and media professionals to provide detailed briefings on the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack, Operation Sindoor, and India’s broader counterterrorism strategy.
The delegation comprises of the following members:
- Shashi Tharoor, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and Chairperson of the Standing Committee on External Affairs, Former Minister of State for External Affairs and Former Minister of State for Human Resource Development
- Bhubaneswar Kalita, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Member of the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Home Affairs.
- Milind Murli Deora, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Former Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology and Shipping
- Sarfraz Ahmad, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Member of the Standing Committee on Railways and of the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Coal and Ministry of Mines.
- Tejasvi Lakya Suryanaryana, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Member of the Committee on Public Accounts, Standing Committee on Science & Technology, Environment & Forest and the Standing Committee on Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Food Processing.
- Shashank Mani Tripathi, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Member of the Standing Committee on Defense and the Consultative Committee for Finance.
- Ganti Harish Madhur, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Member of the Standing Committee on Labour, Textiles and Skill Development
- Ambassodor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Former Ambassador of India to the USA and former High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka.
According to a statement from the Indian Embassy, as part of its itinerary, the delegation made a stop in New York City on May 24, where the delegates visited the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. There, they paid tribute to the victims of the 9/11 attacks, underscoring India’s solidarity with the United States and reaffirming the country’s steadfast commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms.
