The Consulate General of India (CGI) in Houston participated in the 18th Indian Film Festival of Houston, held February 27–28, 2026, at Asia Society Texas, marking another milestone for the city’s longstanding cultural celebration of Indian cinema.

In a statement, CGI Houston highlighted the global impact of Indian filmmaking. “Indian cinema has long served as a powerful bridge between cultures, telling stories that reflect India’s diversity, democracy, and ethos while connecting with audiences across the world,” the Consulate noted.

It added that as cultural ambassadors, Indian films “promote better understanding of India’s society, values and contemporary narratives, and festivals like IFFH provide an important platform for dialogue, creativity and collaboration.”

Consul General of India in Houston, D.C. Manjunath attended the 18th edition of the festival, which the Consulate said underscores the “continuity, dedication and vision” of the organizers and volunteers who have sustained the event over the years.

The Consulate also expressed appreciation to Founder and Executive Director Sutapa Ghosh and the Indian Film Festival of Houston team for their continued efforts in showcasing Indian and international cinema in Houston.

Reaffirming its commitment, CGI Houston said it will continue to support IFFH and similar initiatives that promote “Indian films, arts and culture, and strengthen the vibrant people-to-people ties,” between India and the United States.
