India registered its second victory in three matches at the FIH Hockey World Cup for Junior Women in Santiago, Chile, cruising past Ireland with a dominant 4-0 win.

Purnima Yadav (42′, 58′), Kanika Siwach (12′), and Sakshi Rana (57′) found the target for India. The team had earlier opened its campaign with a 13-0 win over Namibia before falling 1-3 to Germany.

India began the match with strong attacking intent, earning a penalty corner within the first 12 seconds, though the attempt did not yield a result. The pressure continued to mount, and after a second penalty corner went unused in the tenth minute, India finally broke through. In the 12th minute, Rana delivered a precise pass to Siwach, who moved around the Irish goalkeeper and placed the ball into an empty net.

India maintained its dominance, creating multiple scoring opportunities. In the 17th and 23rd minutes, the team won back-to-back penalty corners, but Ireland’s goalkeeper Lucy McGoldrick kept the scoreline in check with impressive saves. Ireland managed its first shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the Indian goalkeeper responded effectively. India earned a fifth penalty corner in the 28th minute but went into halftime with a narrow one-goal lead.

The momentum continued in the third quarter as India controlled possession and stretched the Irish defense. A near miss came in the 40th minute when Manisha set up Sukhveer Kaur, whose shot sailed just over the post. Two minutes later, India converted another penalty corner. Sakshi Shukla delivered a sharp pass to Yadav, who deflected it into the net to double the lead.

Ireland attempted a resurgence in the fourth quarter, with Eabha Curran breaking through for a promising shot, but Nandini’s well-timed block prevented a goal.

India then sealed the match with two quick strikes in the 57th and 58th minutes. Rana showcased remarkable 3D skills to beat multiple defenders before firing a powerful shot into the bottom corner. Moments later, Yadav completed her brace with a composed deflection over the goalkeeper, securing India’s fourth goal.
