External Affairs Minister of India S. Jaishankar will visit the United States from February 2 to 4, 2026, to participate in the Critical Minerals Ministerial convened by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs, the Ministerial will focus on strengthening supply chain resilience, advancing clean energy transitions, and enhancing strategic cooperation in critical minerals. During the visit, the External Affairs Minister is also scheduled to hold meetings with senior members of the U.S. administration.
According to a statement from the State Department Spokesperson, Secretary of State Marco Rubio will host the inaugural Critical Minerals Ministerial on February 4, 2026, at the Department of State in Washington, D.C.
“The United States will welcome delegations from to advance collective efforts to strengthen and diversify critical minerals supply chains. This historic gathering will create momentum for collaboration to secure these critical components vital to technological innovation, economic strength, and national security,” according to the statement.
Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary Rubio, Special Assistant to the President of the United States and Senior Director for Global Supply Chains David Copley, and Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg will deliver opening remarks, it added.
Congratulating India on its 77th Republic Day celebrations on January 26, Secretary Rubio stated, “The United States and India share a historic bond. From our close cooperation on defense, energy, critical minerals, and emerging technologies to our multi-layered engagement through the Quad, the U.S.-India relationship delivers real results for our two countries and for the Indo-Pacific region.”
Ahead of the visit, Minister Jaishankar met with U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor on January 29 in New Delhi. Referring to the meeting, Minister Jaishankar said, “We had a highly substantive discussion that covered everything from defense, trade, critical minerals, and working towards our common interests.”
