Shortly after being sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, on January 20, 2025, Donald Trump declared that the “golden age of America” had begun, asserting that he was “saved by God to make America great again.”
“The golden age of America begins right now. From this day forward, our country will flourish and be respected again all over the world. We will be the envy of every nation, and we will not allow ourselves to be taken advantage of any longer. During every single day of the Trump administration, I will very simply put America first,” President Trump proclaimed during his inaugural speech at the Capitol Rotunda.

Reflecting on an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, during which a bullet grazed his ear, he remarked, “I felt, then and believe even more so now, that my life was saved for a reason. I was saved by God to make America great again.”
He highlighted the challenges he faced over the past eight years, asserting that he had been tested more than any president in America’s 250-year history. “The journey to reclaim our republic has not been an easy one, that I can tell you. Those who wish to stop our cause have tried to take my freedom and even to take my life,” he said.

“Our sovereignty will be reclaimed. Our safety will be restored. The scales of justice will be rebalanced. The vicious, violent, and unfair weaponization of the Justice Department and our government will end. Our top priority will be to create a nation that is proud, prosperous, and free,” he added.
Trump expressed optimism about America’s future, stating, America will soon become a stronger nation on earth. “I return to the presidency confident and optimistic that we are at the start of a thrilling new era of national success.”
He criticized the Biden-Harris administration, with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris present, saying, “We now have a government that cannot manage even a simple crisis at home, while at the same time stumbling into a continuing catalog of catastrophic events abroad.”

Trump alleged that the government had failed to protect law-abiding citizens while providing sanctuary to dangerous criminals, including individuals from foreign prisons and mental institutions.
He also took aim at the public health system, calling it ineffective during disasters despite the United States spending more on healthcare than any other country. On education, he criticized curricula that he claimed teach children to feel ashamed of themselves and, in some cases, to hate America.
“All of this will change starting today, and it will change very quickly,” he emphasized.

President Trump thanked African Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Asian Americans for their support, claiming they helped him secure an overwhelming electoral victory.
“It is my hope that our recent presidential election will be remembered as the greatest and most consequential election in the history of our country,” he stated. “We had a powerful win in all seven swing states and the popular vote. To the Black and Hispanic communities, I want to thank you for the tremendous outpouring of love and trust that you have shown me with your vote.”
Talking about a series of executive orders he was intending to sign on the first day, he announced plans to declare a national emergency at the southern border to halt illegal immigration. “We will reinstate my ‘remain in Mexico’ policy, and we will also be designating the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations,” he asserted.

On the topic of inflation, Trump said he had directed his cabinet to tackle rising prices and reduce costs. “We will drill, baby, drill,” he exclaimed, drawing loud cheers from the audience. He promised to make America a manufacturing powerhouse and ensure the country had the largest oil and gas reserves for its citizens’ benefit.
Trump outlined plans to overhaul the trade system, stating, “I will immediately begin the overhaul of our trade system to protect American workers and families. Instead of taxing our citizens to enrich other countries, we will tariff and tax foreign countries to enrich our citizens. For this purpose, we are establishing the External Revenue Service to collect all tariffs, duties, and revenues.”
He also proposed renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America and vowed to reclaim the Panama Canal.
“Panama’s promise to us has been broken. The purpose of our deal and the spirit of our treaty have been totally violated. American ships are being severely overcharged and not treated fairly in any way, shape, or form, and that includes the United States Navy. Above all, China is operating the Panama Canal. We didn’t give it to China; we gave it to Panama, and we’re taking it back,” he declared.
