The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has confirmed that his country will be participating at a high-level conference on Artificial Intelligence to be held in India in February 2026.

According to Business News This Week, the Russian leader confirmed participation following a report by Vice Chancellor of Sai University, Ajith Abraham, in Chennai, India. President Putin confirmed his cooperation with Indian partners and expressed confidence that the forthcoming AI conference will be at a high level.

“First of all, I would like to note that we are cooperating with our Indian friends and will continue to do so,” President Putin has been quoted in the media report at the AI Journey conference in Sber. “I know that an artificial intelligence summit is planned in India in February of next year. We will be happy to take part in it. I am sure that the event proposed by our Indian friends will be held at the highest level,” he added.

Abraham was in a panel that was chaired by President Putin. In the course of his presentation, he spoke of the results of a foresight study that analyzed future technologies. That study was done under the aegis of the International AI Alliance, which was established at AI Journey in 2024, with more than 270 AI researchers from 36 countries contributing to the project.

In the course of his presentation, Abraham explained that while in the past it took months or years to understand an industry, with the help of AI this can be reduced to days or weeks. Generative AI is providing scientists with tools that were previously not available.

The three-day AI Journey Conference that Abraham is participating in is at Sber’s headquarters in Moscow and focuses on the application of generative AI in daily life and national development, the use of technologies in different economic sectors, and the role of artificial intelligence in science. The BRICS+ AI Forum is also a part of the conference.

The Vice Chancellor and Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence of Sai University, Abraham, has been recognized in Stanford University’s prestigious World’s Top 2 per cent Scientists List for 2025. The global ranking, compiled by Stanford University in collaboration, has consistently featured him since its inception. He is internationally renowned for his contributions to artificial intelligence, medical image analysis, predictive modelling, and cancer diagnostics.

With over 1,500 publications, an H-index of 122, and more than 67,000 citations, his work continues to influence multiple disciplines worldwide. He has also led or co-led projects exceeding US$110 million, funded by agencies across.
