IAICC Conference at Akshardham Temple Explores India’s Economic Growth and Global Opportunities

The Indian American International Chamber of Commerce (IAICC) hosted a high-profile conference, “The Next Big India Opportunity,” on February 7, 2025, at the BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham in Robbinsville, New Jersey.

Managing Director and CEO of the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE), Ashish Chauhan, served as the chief guest. His visit was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration between India and other nations. Chauhan also toured the Akshardham temple, experiencing its architectural grandeur and spiritual significance.

According to IAICC, the temple’s “breathtaking architecture and serene ambiance,” provided an ideal setting for discussions on India’s economic future. As a symbol of India’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage, Akshardham offered a unique backdrop for conversations on innovation, investment, and global partnerships.

The conference highlighted India’s growing global influence and Indo-US collaboration, bringing together business leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to explore opportunities in India’s evolving economic landscape.

Key Speakers and Highlights

IAICC Executive Chairman Appen Menon emphasized the critical role of IAICC in supporting the entrepreneurial community. He welcomed Chauhan to the event, emphasizing IAICC’s role in fostering economic ties between India and the U.S. and supporting entrepreneurship.

“We are honored to host Ashish Chauhan, a visionary leader who has played a pivotal role in shaping India’s financial markets,” said Menon. “His presence here underscores the importance of building bridges between India and the United States, two nations that share a commitment to innovation, economic growth, and mutual prosperity. This event is a testament to the power of collaboration and the immense potential that lies ahead for both countries.”

In his keynote address, Chauhan reflected on his 50-year association with BAPS and discussed India’s economic transformation. He covered key themes, including the evolution of India’s capital markets; the digital revolution driving India’s economy; India’s increasing integration with global markets; and the importance of collaboration to harness India’s growing consumer base, tech industry, and financial sector for sustainable growth.  

“India’s rise as a key player on the global stage presents unique opportunities for investors and businesses,” emphasized Chauhan. “This conference sheds light on the immense potential that India holds for the future.”

IAICC Chairman and Treasurer Shankar Rachakonda discussed the organization’s upcoming initiatives and membership benefits, underscoring its commitment to empowering entrepreneurs and fostering cross-border partnerships. He also announced IAICC’s annual flagship event in Washington D.C. scheduled for May 2-3, 2025.

“Our annual event in Washington, D.C., will bring together leaders from across the globe to discuss emerging trends, opportunities, and challenges in the Indo-US economic landscape,” added Rachakonda. “We invite all of you to join us for this premier event, where we will continue to build on the momentum created today.” 

He further elaborated on the benefits of IAICC membership, including access to exclusive networking opportunities, industry insights, and platforms to collaborate with global leaders.  

Panel Discussions and Cultural Significance

IAICC Secretary Glenn Falcao moderated a panel discussion featuring business executives, policymakers, and thought leaders. The panel explored actionable strategies for collaboration across key sectors such as technology, finance, and policy.

Falcao “The discussions today reflect the shared vision of India and the United States to drive innovation and economic growth,” said Falcao. “By fostering dialogue and collaboration, we can unlock new opportunities and create a brighter future for both nations.” 

IAICC emphasized that the event not only showcased India’s economic potential but also “celebrated its cultural heritage.” The visit to Akshardham reinforced the profound cultural ties between India and the Indian diaspora in the US highlighting the role of “cultural exchange in fostering global partnerships.”
