China continued to lead the medal standings at the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games, while the United States’ Oksana Masters added another gold medal to her remarkable career by winning the women’s sitting 10 km individual cross-country skiing event at the Tesero Cross-Country Skiing Stadium. The victory marked Masters’ third gold medal of the Games.

The United States has so far won 14 medals and remains in second place in the overall standings. With Masters’ latest victory, the U.S. gold medal count rose to six. Austria occupies third place with four gold medals, while Russia, also with four golds, stands fourth with a total of six medals.

The second and final phase of the Games begins Friday with the para ice hockey playoffs. Attention will turn to the semifinals, where the United States will face Czechia and Canada will take on China. The gold medal match is scheduled for the final day of the Games on March 15.

Masters’ victory represents her eighth Paralympic Winter Games gold medal and her 13th Paralympic gold overall, including those won in cycling at the Summer Paralympic Games.

Latvia also celebrated a historic milestone at the Games. The Latvian duo of Polina Rozkova and Agris Lasman defeated the United States in the bronze medal match of the wheelchair curling mixed doubles competition, securing Latvia’s first medal in the history of the Paralympic Winter Games.

Latvia has participated in four editions of the Paralympic Winter Games and arrived at Milano Cortina 2026 with its largest delegation to date, consisting of seven athletes.

When the final phase of the para ice hockey tournament begins tomorrow, all eight participating national teams will compete at the Milano Santa Giulia Ice Hockey Arena to determine the final standings of the tournament.

The first phase of the competition, held over four days, featured teams from the United States, Canada, the People’s Republic of China, Czechia, Germany, Japan, and Italy.

The People’s Republic of China increased its gold medal tally to 10 by winning the wheelchair curling mixed doubles tournament. The Chinese team of Meng Wang and Jinqao Yang defeated Korea’s Hyejin Baek and Yongsuk Lee to claim gold at the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium.

Russia also improved its position in the medal standings, moving up to fourth place after winning two additional gold medals. Anastasiia Bagiian and Ivan Golubkov secured the victories in para cross-country skiing.
