Celebrating Hinduism in the United States, the American Hindu Coalition (AHC) will host a Presidential Inauguration Hindu Gala, a first-of-its-kind event, on January 19, 2025, in Washington D.C.

The Gala, taking place at The Mayflower Hotel just a few blocks from the White House, aims to celebrate “diversity and cultural heritage,” while fostering unity among communities.

The event will feature cultural performances, presentations on Hindu icons, a visual showcase of Hindu landmarks such as Angkor Wat and Maha Kumbh, and an exquisite selection of Indian cuisine. It will also serve as an opportunity to deepen understanding of Hinduism among attendees, including notable guests from various faiths.

In a significant gesture of solidarity, members of the Latino community have joined hands with AHC to support this historic occasion. The event will also host prominent Hindus, appointees in the new administration, members of Congress of Indian origin, and other key dignitaries.

The Gala is being jointly organized by a team of community leaders, including Padma Shri recipient and Chairman of Parikh Worldwide Media and ITV Gold, Dr. Sudhir Parikh; Dr. Romesh Japra; Dr. Sampat Shivangi; Dr. Suresh C. Gupta of the Indian Doctors Association; leader of the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) Narsimha Koppula, and others.

Dr. Shoba Chokkalingam, a dedicated member of the AHC’s Georgia chapter, whom President Trump personally called after the controversial “curry,” remark by Laura Loomer to control the damage, is the coordinator of the Gala.

Dr. Chokkalingam described the Gala as more than a “celebration of Hindu heritage,” emphasizing its value as an unparalleled networking opportunity with national political and business leaders, as well as key representatives from the international Hispanic community.

Chairman of AHC, Shekhar Tiwari called the Gala a “pioneering initiative,” expressing optimism about its impact. He highlighted shared challenges between the Hindu and Latino communities, such as immigration, and emphasized the importance of collaboration.

“We are in the same boat,” Tiwari remarked, envisioning a future where the two communities unite to support each other’s political candidates and advance mutual goals through shared platforms.

“This Gala is more than an event. It’s a celebration of the Hindu identity and its growing influence,” said President of AHC, Harsh Sethi.

“As a board member of the American Hindu Coalition, I am honored to witness the inclusion of the first-ever Hindu Gala in the Presidential Inauguration events. This historic occasion not only highlights the cultural richness and professional excellence of the Hindu diaspora but also reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting the administration’s success,” Srilekha Palle told South Asian Herald

Palle added that the Gala underscores AHC’s dedication to strengthening America’s diversity and fostering stronger U.S.-India relations.

Dr. Parikh told South Asian Herald, “Through this Gala, President Trump is acknowledging the work of AHC and the Hindu community. This will enhance US-India relations as well as India’s image. This is a great start, and hopefully, we’ll continue to interact with President Trump and his administration.”

“We encourage members of the Hindu diaspora – from India, Nepal, the Caribbean, and other regions – to come together for this significant celebration of our cultural and civic engagement,” AHC’s Alok Srivastava, a leader in faith-based initiatives, told South Asian Herald.

Dr. Gupta, a prominent leader of the Hindu community, highlighted the vital role of the Hindu diaspora in enriching U.S. cultural diversity, excelling professionally, and strengthening U.S.-India relations. He expressed excitement about the first-ever Hindu Gala during the Presidential Inauguration.

Leader of HSS, the Hindu University of America and the Sewa International, Koppula, noted that the diaspora is emerging as a significant influence advocating for key issues.

“Their emphasis on community leadership and inclusivity underscores their integral role in America’s social, economic, and cultural fabric. I am delighted that, for the first time, a Hindu Gala is part of the Presidential Inauguration events. This event will undoubtedly be a valuable addition to the inaugural celebrations,” Koppula told South Asian Herald
