Netflix has announced the launch date of The Roshans, a four-part docu-series that offers an intimate look into the extraordinary legacy of one of Indian cinema’s most iconic film families. Set to premiere on January 17, 2025, this series unravels the multi-generational journey of the Roshans, showcasing their extraordinary contributions to Indian cinema.
At its core is the late Roshan Lal Nagrath, lovingly known as Roshan Saab, whose musical brilliance laid the foundation of this artistic dynasty. His legacy lives on through the soulful compositions of Rajesh Roshan, the visionary direction of Rakesh Roshan, and Hrithik Roshan’s meteoric rise as a global icon.
Packed with never-seen-before archival footage, heartfelt personal anecdotes and candid interviews with family members and industry legends, The Roshans offers a rare glimpse into the resilience and creative excellence that have defined this family’s journey. It’s a tribute to the spirit of Roshan’s timeless song Rahe na rahe hum—a celebration of their melodies, unforgettable stories and enduring impact on Indian Cinema.
Roshan’s wife Ira Roshan was also a composer in her own right and did a private album in the early 2000s, while Rakesh Roshan was a popular actor (Khel Khel Mein, Zakhmee, Priyatama, Khatta Meetha, Kaamchor and more) before turning producer and director (Kaamchor, Khudgarz, Khoon Bhari Maang, Kishan Kanhaiya, Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai, Koi…Mil Gaya. Krrish). Rajesh Roshan is the ace composer of films like Kunwara Baap, Julie, Doosara Aadmi, Khatta Meetha, Des Pardes, Mr. Natwarlal, Yaarana and all the films made by his brother.
Hrithik Roshan was a child actor (Aasha, Aas Paas, Apna Bana Lo, Bhagwan Dada) and assisted dad Rakesh before becoming a superstar. He has also occasional sung songs. And now Rajesh Roshan’s daughter, Pashmina Roshan, has turned actor with Ishq Vishk Rebound. The saga continues…
The docu-series is directed by Shashi Ranjan and produced by him along with Rakesh Roshan. The main talking heads are Rakesh Roshan, Rajesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan.
