London-based strategic communications specialist Farzana Baduel has joined BBC Radio 4 podcast “When It Hits The Fan” as the new co-host alongside David Yelland. The podcast explores the “PR scandals, reputational crises and influence campaigns” behind some of the week’s biggest news stories.
According to a statement, each episode of “When It Hits The Fan” takes listeners behind the headlines to examine how major stories develop and the communications strategies employed by public figures, organizations, and institutions during moments of crisis. The programme also analyzes the role of crisis managers, spin doctors, and the broader influence industry in shaping public perception and media narratives.
Baduel is a strategic communications adviser and serves as Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Curzon PR. Her expertise includes reputation management, narrative strategy, and high-stakes communications. Over the years, she has advised governments, corporations, NGOs, and institutions in the United Kingdom and internationally.
Speaking about her new role, Baduel said, “I’ve been a loyal listener of When It Hits The Fan since day one, so joining David Yelland as co-host and stepping into the BBC is a huge moment. I can’t wait to get stuck into those big PR stories and debate the ins and outs of what’s really going on – and who’s pulling the strings.”
Roberts, Commissioning Editor for Podcast & Formats at BBC Radio 4, welcomed the appointment, saying, “Getting the latest intel and the best insight into the PR crisis of the week is always a pleasure with When It Hits The Fan. We’re all delighted Farzana is joining the team, she brings some great stories and a wealth of experience to the mix.”
