South Asian Herald Student Op-Ed Submission Guidelines

Share Your Voice with South Asian Herald

We believe students have unique perspectives on the issues shaping our communities and the world. We welcome thoughtful, well-reasoned opinion pieces that encourage meaningful discussion and reflect the diverse experiences of young voices.

Whether you’re writing about current events, education, culture, technology, public policy, or community issues, we encourage you to share your ideas with our readers.

To help us review your submission, please follow the guidelines below.

Student Op-Ed

  • Word Count: Under 1,000 words
  • Style: Original, respectful, and well-supported. While opinion is encouraged, arguments should be backed by facts, examples, or personal experiences where appropriate.
  • Structure:
    1. Engaging title
    2. Introduction presenting your main viewpoint
    3. Supporting arguments with evidence or examples
    4. Conclusion summarizing your message or call to action

Images

Please include high-quality images whenever possible.

  • Quantity: Up to 3 images
  • Format: JPG or PNG
  • Resolution: Minimum 1500px on the longest side
  • Captions: Include a brief caption for each image
  • Credits: Provide photographer or source credit, if applicable
  • Permissions: Submit only images you have permission to share

Submission Requirements

Please include:

  • Completed article in Word or Google Docs format
  • Word count
  • A short author bio (50–100 words)
  • A recent high-resolution headshot
  • School name, grade level, and location

If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must provide their contact information as part of the submission.

Editorial Review

Every submission is carefully reviewed by our editorial team.

Please note:

  • Publication is not guaranteed.
  • Articles may be edited for grammar, clarity, style, or length while preserving the author’s voice and intended message.
  • Our editors may contact you for revisions or additional information before publication.

Author Responsibilities

By submitting your op-ed, you confirm that:

  • The article is your original work.
  • The article has not been published elsewhere unless disclosed.
  • Any facts or statistics included are accurate to the best of your knowledge.
  • You have properly credited any sources or quotations used.
  • You grant South Asian Herald permission to review and consider your submission for publication.
