Prime Minister Modi Meets Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard

Indian Diaspora members welcome PM Modi in Washington DC.

Shortly after being sworn in at the White House, U.S. Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 12, 2025, to discuss key issues related to the U.S.-India partnership.

During their meeting at Blair House, PM Modi congratulated Gabbard on her confirmation, which had taken place just hours earlier. The US Senate confirmed Gabbard’s nomination, in a 52-48 vote on February 12th

“Prime Minister fondly recalled his earlier interactions with Gabbard. The discussions touched on enhancing bilateral intelligence cooperation, particularly in counter-terrorism, cybersecurity, emerging threats, and strategic intelligence sharing. They also exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest, reaffirming their commitment to a secure, stable, and rules-based international order,” said a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office. 

PM Modi landed at the Joint Base Andrews in Maryland and arrived in Washington, D.C., on the evening of February 12th after co-hosting a Summit on Artificial Intelligence in Paris with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Despite the rain and cold weather, members of the Indian diaspora warmly welcomed him upon his arrival. Expressing his gratitude on social media, PM Modi wrote, “Despite the cold weather, the Indian diaspora in Washington DC has welcomed me with a very special welcome.”

He will meet President Donald Trump at the White House on the evening of February 13th. Both leaders will have a joint press conference and engage in a bilateral meeting. President Trump is also hosting a dinner in honor of PM Modi at the White House. PM Modi is expected to have bilateral meetings with US officials and business leaders during his whirlwind trip to Washington DC. 

PM Modi leaves for India on the night of February 13th.
