QUEENS, NY – India Home is thrilled to join forces with the NY Irish Center for the upcoming Crossroads Concert on Thursday, February 27, at 7 PM. The event promises to be a powerful celebration of two rich musical traditions—Indian classical and Irish folk music—brought together in a stunning fusion. This concert, which is part of the ongoing Crossroads Concerts series, features an extraordinary lineup of musicians and offers an evening of cultural harmony and artistic brilliance.
The Crossroads Concerts is a seven-part world music series that runs through June 2025, as part of the NY Irish Center’s 20th anniversary season. Curated by ethnomusicologist Colin Harte, the series seeks to explore and celebrate the connections between Irish folk music and global music traditions. These concerts juxtapose Irish music with genres from around the world, including Puerto Rican, Ghanaian, Bulgarian, Brazilian, and Arab influences. The series has been a unique platform for virtuoso musicians from diverse cultural communities, especially those based in Queens, NY, to share their talents with a broader audience.
This musical journey has already highlighted collaborations between Irish and Puerto Rican traditions, such as Puerto Rican Plena and the holiday Parranda. The upcoming concerts in the series will continue to explore the dynamic fusion of different cultural sounds, and February 27’s performance promises to be a particularly memorable one.
